This Gutter Rat isn't just chasing cheddar, he's telling tales from the Gutter that you won't want to miss!
While the Gang has been busy heating up the TL, G.W. (@GWtheLabRat) has been gearing up for the launch of his novel, "The Last Lab Rat," which incorporates his Gutter IP and will introduce fans to Gutter City!
"We interrupt your regularly scheduled $gang farming to bring you this Gutter service announcement. On April 25th, the first full-length Gutter novel will hit the shelves in all major book stores across the globe. Some of us never stopped putting on for the $gang," he tweeted recently, showing off a box of books.
The Gutter Cat Times recently caught up with G.W. to learn more about his forthcoming book and give the Gang the inside scoop! Below is an edited interview with this Gutter author:
What inspired you to write this book?
I came to web3 looking for IP and characters for the purpose of writing stories but the inspiration for this came after I read the little bit of lore the original founders created. It was a skeleton waiting for someone to put some real meat on it and the ideas just started flowing.
Once I started putting stickies on the wall and developing the storyline it became evident that there was so much to be explored. I haven’t looked back and have fully fleshed out the next two novels that complete the trilogy.
What's next, now that you've completed the first book?
I have to finish book two! If everything goes to plan, I should be able to release book two in 2025 and book three in 2026.
I can’t say too much about what's next for the sequel as I risk giving away aspects of book one. I can tell you that everything is set, BUT I'll be coming back to the community after the release of book one to see if anyone has characters that they may want featured. Keep your eye out for my callouts on X!
How can the Gang get their paws (or wings) on "The Last Lab Rat?"
Barnes and Noble and other major bookstores across the globe have presales up. Amazon will have print copies live the day before launch, and the kindle edition is up for presale now.
I suggest searching for "The Last Lab Rat" at your favorite bookstore to find your copy. You won't be disappointed!
How did the GCG community support you during the writing process?
I fear leaving someone out so I hope everyone that I've talked to over the past two years knows how important they are to me, even if I don't mention you!
Starting off, I'd have to point to a conversation with @GWPnft at Art Basel over a few drinks. If you've met him or talked with him on spaces, you know he's a good dude and his excitement was instrumental in giving me confidence that I was on the right path.
Plenty of OG community members showed support and a few responded to my call for characters. Even though they're not around, It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention them, as their characters live on in book one: @KinGuttaGutta, @ScammyDavisJr, Vivek, and Sleepy Ollie to name a few.
There are other characters that are still around that we all know including the Queen of the Gutter Rats, @NotoriousMeg_, designer extraordinaire @RegularRuben, comedian and overall funny man @NFTBuffet, and one of my personal favorites, gold jacket energy himself, @BigLouCrypto. They all deserve their own shine but I would be typing for ages!
@Paw1239_, @Anaroth__ , and @JonesyTheBird were a big help to me with general creativity and lore conversations. @DrDiCatrio had me up on multiple spaces to give me added exposure. @tomwagmi was one of the first to write about it and of course you, the @guttercattimes, for always putting on, not just for me but the Gutter as a whole.
I could continue mentioning people but I'll end by thanking the members of a chat that won't be named for keeping me entertained while writing. You know who you are.
Anything else you'd like to share?
I’ll end with a heartfelt thank you to all the previous and current founders and community members for putting on for the Gang. We have some of the best IP and soon to have the most extensive amount of lore in web3, let's use it. Gang Gang!
The Gutter Cat Times will continue to follow G.W. and The Last Lab Rat series and bring you updates from the streets of the Gutter. Follow along @guttercattimes on X for all things Gutter, all the time.
